A Step-by-Step Guide to Accessing Government-Funded IVF at Hannam Fertility Centre
The Ontario Fertility Program (OFP) provides funding to participating fertility clinics to cover treatment costs for eligible Ontario residents. Hannam Fertility Centre is proud to be a participating clinic.
This guide explains how you can access government-funded IVF in Ontario through Hannam Fertility Centre (HFC), including how to get started, what to expect at each stage of the process and what is covered.
To be eligible for OFP funding, you must meet all of the following criteria:
Be an Ontario resident and have a valid OHIP card
Be under 43 years of age at the time of retrieval
Have not previously completed a funded IVF cycle through the OFP
Step 1: Book an appointment
The first step toward accessing fertility treatment and Ontario Fertility Program funding is booking a Virtual Referral appointment. This appointment will get you referred to a fertility specialist for an OHIP-covered consultation.
During your consultation, you’ll meet with a fertility specialist to discuss your medical history and fertility goals and to learn about recommended testing and treatment options.
At this time, you can ask any questions you may have about the OFP program.
Step 2: Complete fertility testing
Based on your clinician’s recommendations, you will be booked for fertility tests to guide you with the next steps in your care.
Step 3: Get a funded treatment plan
Your clinician will meet with you to review your results, discuss treatment options and make a care plan that is tailored to your needs.
Step 4: Get approved for funding and begin your funded cycle
If you would like to access OFP funding, and you meet the criteria for OFP funding, you will sign an OFP funding consent form. The clinic will submit your consent form to the Ministry of Health.
Depending on how fast you are ready to proceed, this step may happen earlier on in the process.
Once your OFP funding has been approved by the Ministry of Health, you can begin your funded IVF cycle.

Can I switch clinics if I'm already on another clinic's waitlist?
Yes. Patients can switch to another clinic even if they are currently on another clinic’s waitlist. If you have already signed a MOH funding agreement with that clinic but have not yet started treatment, you can retract your funding agreement and transfer to a different clinic.
