How Do I Get Started at HFC?
-
To book a consultation, you can get a referral from your family doctor or book a Virtual Referral Appointment with us directly on our website.
-
Partners and support persons are encouraged to attend appointments, including the initial consultation, and may accompany patients to diagnostic and cycle monitoring appointments.
-
For your first visit with us, please ensure you, and your partner (if applicable), have completed your patient intake form(s) prior to your consultation.
Ahead of your appointment, take some time to assess your family planning goals.
Do you know how many children you would ideally like to have? It is ok if you are unsure.
When do you want to start trying for a family? Even a general idea is helpful for the discussion.
Having these answers ready helps us guide your care from the beginning.
-
Whether you’re actively trying to conceive, planning for the near future, or simply want to understand your options, we’re here to help you understand your fertility and make informed, confident decisions.
Age is the best predictor of your ability to get pregnant.
Checking your fertility in your mid-20s to mid-30s can help you make informed decisions around when to plan to start a family, or whether you’d like to preserve your fertility. It’s also the first step of any fertility treatment.
In your 40s, checking your fertility can help you understand which paths to parenthood are available. We offer fertility testing up to age 43.
-
Yes. For example, some patients start with our Natural Conception Program (NCP) and undergo IVF later.
We also have many patients who start with egg or embryo freezing and then try to conceive with the help of the NCP before using their embryos.
Your doctor will work with you to explore treatment options and help ensure your treatment plan is tailored to your specific needs.
Options for Affording Fertility Care
-
OHIP covers some costs related to fertility care.
It covers many of the initial appointments and tests. This typically includes physician consultations, ultrasounds, most bloodwork (except AMH test), semen analysis, and cycle monitoring for timed intercourse cycles.
Our team will help you understand what is covered and what to expect at each step.
-
The cost of fertility treatment varies depending on the type of care that’s right for you.
When you book an OHIP-covered consultation at Hannam Fertility Centre, our team will take the time to understand your goals and review your options. Based on this discussion, our team will reach out to help you book baseline tests if required, and it will be clearly outlined which tests are OHIP and non-OHIP covered.
We believe in simple, transparent pricing. Once your care plan is confirmed, you’ll have the option to meet with our Finance team to review any associated costs, what may be covered by OHIP or other funding programs, and what to expect financially at each step.
Our goal is to help you make informed, confident decisions about your care, both clinically and financially.
For more information, see our pricing page here.
-
Medication costs are not included in the base cost of fertility treatment. However, some fertility medications may be partially or fully covered by private/employer insurance benefits plans.
We encourage you to review your insurance coverage.
