Testing, Plan, & Treatment

You’ll get blood tests and ultrasounds done onsite and meet your REI.

They’ll create a tailored treatment plan for you, and you’ll receive a personalized planning calendar.

Retrieval & Freezing

Your egg retrieval will be done by one of our expert REIs.

After your retrieval, your eggs or embryos will be frozen at our CCRM Lab and securely stored onsite.

Egg Freezing & Embryo Freezing FAQs

Egg freezing saves unfertilized eggs while embryo freezing saves fertilized embryos.
- Egg Freezing: Eggs are collected and frozen before fertilization. They can be thawed and fertilized with sperm in the future.
- Embryo Freezing (also referred to as Embryo Banking): Retrieved eggs are fertilized with sperm first to create embryos, which are then frozen and stored for future use. We can use sperm from a partner or a donor.
From when you first start medication until your egg retrieval (which is part of egg freezing and embryo freezing), it takes 4-6 weeks. Recovery is typically quick, with many patients feeling back to normal within a week.
Embryo freezing also involves fertilization, embryo growth, and typically PGT-A testing. This adds up to 2 weeks post-retrieval.

When going through treatment at HFC, you’ll receive a personalized planning calendar to help you work around your schedule.
Hannam Fertility Centre operates the only CCRM laboratory in Canada and is CAP‑accredited, meeting the stringent standards of the College of American Pathologists. CAP stands for the College of American Pathologists.

CAP accreditation helps ensure that:
- Your retrieved eggs and embryos are handled using the documented laboratory quality and safety protocols. They are frozen using vitrification, an advanced rapid-freezing technique that minimizes ice crystal formation and helps protect the structure and quality of each egg.
- Test results are accurate and consistent, reducing the risk of error.
- CAP accreditation requires that our lab meet defined laboratory quality standards, undergoing inspections and ongoing competency reviews.

Earlier is generally better — egg quantity and quality peak in your mid-to-late 20s and begin declining in the your 30s, with a steeper decline after 35. A fertility specialist can discuss how age, ovarian reserve, and other factors may contribute to your egg-freezing options and expected outcomes.
Our multidisciplinary team of physicians and nurses are well-trained to support you before, during, and after the procedure.
You will receive medication prior to the procedure to help you relax, conscious sedation during the procedure, and medication after to further reduce any pain or discomfort as you recover. We take your comfort seriously.
